The impact of low self-esteem is painful, and causes: shame, guilt, depression, anxiety or despair. It can also lower your confidence, and make relationships more difficult. Low self-esteem can inhibit assertiveness or setting reasonable limits with yourself or others, causing you to settle for less than satisfying life circumstances.
